New Delhi- Dated 7th October- 2024 -
While talking to the media today, Jyotiba Phule All India OBC Association President Pothala Prasad Naidu said that we will meet Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi ji, discuss these issues and give a memorandum about this, told about the great essence of OBC recognition in every field. The discussion on caste census and BC reservation has gained momentum in Telangana and across the country due to the efforts of senior Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi.
The creation of 42% reservation in local bodies by the Telangana government and the ongoing comprehensive caste census are positive steps. BC communities have long been demanding 42% reservation in local elections, as promised by the Congress party. BC leaders emphasize the need for classification-based reservation and implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations on OBC reservation. However, only 23% BC quota has been implemented in Telangana, resulting in loss of Sarpanch posts for many BCs. BC castes also demand implementation of BC reservation classification in local body elections. The Congress party came to power by promising to increase the BC quota to 42% before the general elections. The Telangana government should ensure 42% reservation, as there is no BC representation in local bodies. The central government, especially the BJP, is struggling to resolve legal issues on reservation for backward castes. People from backward castes face difficulties socially and educationally, and now is the time for all backward castes to unite. It is expected that the backward castes will perform well in the state. The party should fulfill Rahul Gandhi's promise, and caste reservation should be provided based on the enumeration of backward castes. The Congress-led government should implement reservation for backward castes and conduct a comprehensive caste census to address the legal implications of the increase. Mahatma Jyotiba Rao Phule All India OBC Association president Pothala Prasad Naidu has also said that all OBC associations of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana Andhra Pradesh will support the caste census. He also mentioned that caste census is the key way to uplift the people who have been economically backward for decades and are not benefited by reservation.
